Evolution of the consumption of fertilizers between 2002 and 2013. It consists in a measure of the quantity of plant nutrients used per unit of arable land (land, temporary crops, temporary meadows for mowing or for pasture, and land temporarily fallow). Fertilizer products cover nitrogenous, potash, and phosphate fertilizers (including ground rock phosphate). Traditional nutrients–animal and plant manures–are not included, as well as land abandoned as a result of shifting cultivation.
