Ministry of Home Affairs has identified 130 foreign non-governmental organizations. Among them, 75 organizations are from eleven European Union countries. Belgium comes first with 15 organizations, followed by Italy with 12 and Holland with 11 organizations. After the European Union comes the United States of America with 31 organizations operating in Burundi. As for Africa, Rwanda has two organizations while other African countries have at least one.
