Mr Biyereke says there are very few applications from these minority groups. “Out of 158 successful officer candidates, there are 10 women and 4 from Twa ethnic group. Among 459 non-commissioned officers, there are 36 women and 22 Twa and out of 2018 privates, there are only 72 women and 36 Twa,” he says.

Biyereke encourages candidates who are qualified to apply during the next recruitment.
He says the recruitment has followed the normal process. “The selection was made on the basis of the results obtained by the candidates in different tests to confirm the intellectual and physical aptitudes. It was also guided by the desire to ensure the ethnic and regional equilibrium, thus 50% of Hutu and 50% of Tutsi and an equal number per province”.

The lists of successful candidates will be posted up in their respective province chief towns on Saturday, July 07, 2018.
