For Evariste Ndayishimiye, 16 November recalls the day when Burundians decided to rebuild their country in peace and security. He urged (Abagumyabanga) members of the ruling party CNDD-FDD to be vigilant since the enemies of Burundi are very active. Ndayishimiye highlighted that the enemies of Burundi are not Burundians. “Our enemies are those who want us to kill each other.”

He congratulated Burundians for having been able to fight against people who wanted to destabilize the country. For him, “Burundians have shown the international community that Burundi is an independent and sovereign country. “Unity is our strength.” he says. He asks the Bagumyabanga to overcome all the obstacles of the country’s detractors.

Aime Magera, Spokesman of the FNL party, the wing led by Agathon Rwasa says that the former combatants of FNL movement are always excluded when celebrating that week. For him, the current regime wants to take credit for everything and transform the CNDD –FDD into party state.

“The former combatants of the FNL movement have just spent 11 years in the street without any assistance while they also took part politically and militarily in the fight that opposed the government forces of that time and the rebel movements,” he says.
