Desire Nsengiyumva, the Director of Water in Regideso acknowledges the facts: “The filters are struggling to produce the required quantity of water. This is the reason why there is the shortage in some quarters. The filters are filled with mud due to the heavy rains on Friday 24 October 2014.”

To those concerned that the shortage is like the electricity’s, the Director of Water says that it is just “a small program of water rationing this week”. He asked the urban population to make good use of the scarce provision. “We must search for water where it is available.” Nsengiyumva warns that there is another serious concern: “There is a problem with the water intake on the Ntahangwa River, the canal was damaged by landslides and to repair it will take almost two weeks. Water will decrease in some areas.”
