Some lecturers of the university have written a book that they dedicated to Emile Mworoha, Professor at the University of Burundi who retired a few years ago.
During the presentation of this book on Mutanga campus at the University of Burundi this Friday 11May 2018, lecturers of the University of Burundi have said they recognize the significant contribution of Emile Mworoha as a lecturer and devoted researcher.
Nicodème Burwabari, Professor at the University of Burundi, director of the book and ex-student of Emile Mworoha, has said the latter has served as an inspiration of courage and hard work to whoever knows him.“Emile Mworoha is a tireless researcher, a model of a good professor that the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the university, the country and the scientific community in general has ever known”.
Burwabari says Mworoha deserves to be honored because he is among the university lecturers that have done a lot of valuable researches and have a unique behavior. “Besides being scientific researcher, he is a professor with Ubuntu spirit”.
The authors of the book, mostly Burundians and some foreigners, have included original studies on history, culture, education as well as political and social history of the present day Burundi and aspects of the Great Lakes region particularly in Rwanda and Uganda.
Emile Mworoha says he is happy and proud to be recognized in such a great piece of writing. “I only discovered that they were writing a book as homage to me two months ago. This is a great surprise and honor from my former colleagues”, he says adding that “by writing this book, they have earned me a long-lasting recognition”.
This book will be classified in the category of scientific books of Africa.
Born in Kayanza province in February 1940, Emile Mworoha who worked on the ancient history of Burundi since the 1960s has held different important positions such as being the Minister of culture, MP, international consultant at UNESCO, Lecturer at the University before he retired in December 2012.
