Two bars, Nganda Relax located on Mwaro Avenue and Mubandi Bar situated on MAO Avenue, in INSS neighborhood in Rohero area of Bujumbura city caught fire on Monday, August 26th.
The fire broke out at Nganda Relax Bar around noon. Afterwards, it quickly spread inside the bar. The owner was able to save only a few materials including musical instruments used in karaoke entertainment.

“The bar was completely burned down while the house inside the same plot was badly damaged,” says Antoine Ntemako, Director General of the Civil Protection Police adding that another bar “Mubandi” located on the following avenue also caught fire. “Thanks to the intervention of the firefighters’ police, Mubandi bar was not completely destroyed,” says Ntemako.
The cause of the fire and damages report are not yet known. The police investigations are still ongoing to identify the cause and damage, Ntemako says, adding that no human death has been recorded.
