The son of LéonceNgendakumana, Deputy Chairman of Sahwanya-FRODEBU party is detained at the Special Research Bureau (BSR) since November 7 and is undergoing interrogation. Mr Ngendakumana believes he was arrested for political reasons.

Lambert Bibonimana, was kidnapped in the night of November 7 around 9 p.m. by unidentified people in Kiriri neighborhood not far from his home.
“He was ambushed by people in police uniform when he was going home from work. After arresting him, they drove him with them, “says Ngendakumana.
He indicates that Bibonimana family was informed of this arrest by people who witnessed the scene.
“Since that night, we kept looking for him and we just learned that he is detained in BSR cell,” says Ngendakumana adding that Bibonimana would be arrested in connection with the assassination attempt of the chief of Muyira area in Kanyosha commune in the south of Burundi in the night of 25 October.
“He is accused of participating in the planning of the assassination of the chief of Muyira area. I wonder why they arrest him now while the crime was committed two weeks ago,” he says.
He believes that his son is a victim of his father’s political affiliation.
More than 20 people affiliated to opposition parties have been arrested in connection with the assassination attempt of that administrative authority.
