“We will not participate in the referendum. It is a government affair,” Aloys Baricako, chairman of RANAC told journalist on 4 May.

He said RANAC took that decision because it had not yet received formally the final version of the Constitution to be amended. “It is difficult for us to recommend our supporters to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the referendum since we do not know the content of the new constitution,” says Baricako adding that RANAC officials will express their position when they are informed about all the articles of the constitution to be put to the referendum. “We can even campaign for or against it on the eve of the referendum,” he said.

Baricako calls on RANAC members to vote what seems good to them. “We will accept people’s verdict”
