The river has destroyed houses and two streets near the river, one in Kigobe and another in Mugoboka. According to Charles Rwangarambe, one of the residents living close to the river, the situation worsens especially when it continues raining heavily.

“A meeting has been held over the past three weeks to solve the issue but nothing has been done so far. The commission charged with the rehabilitation of that river should begin its activities as early as possible to protect the population”, says Réverien NIBASUMBA, South Mutanga zone chief.

Thaddée NTAWUKIRISHIGA, Secretary General of environment, water, management and urbanization in the environment ministry says the project of rehabilitating that river is going to be accomplished in next three months.
