At the end of his tour in Burundi since February 2018, Kidumu says he felt bad after the concert held on “Kiriri” Campus at the University of Burundi on 23 March. “I was taken to the hospital with my friends for intensive care after vomiting followed by diarrhea”, he says. After a lull, Kidumu tried to return to Nairobi but he was dissuaded not to go there when he was already at Bujumbura International Airport. He went back to the hospital.
After some medical examinations, doctors said the liver and kidneys were affected and stated he would have been poisoned.
He, however, did not want to give more details, he only condemns the act. “Even if this happened, I plan to perform on stage after my recovery,” he says. His suspected friend with whom he shared the meal is also hospitalized with similar symptoms.
