Léopold Ndayisaba: “Local administrative officials were exhorted to facilitate the opening activities of party offices in a given locality”.

Léopold Ndayisaba, Administrator of Gihanga commune in Bubanza province says the incident was caused by the ignorance of members of political parties.

“All leaders of political parties knew already that they must inform the administration in time about the opening ceremonies of their party offices”, he says.

He indicates that CNL leaders in Gihanga commune did so very late and adds that the place where the party office is located was not appropriate.

“Every party office must be established where it has a leader and the local administrative officials must be informed beforehand”, says Ndayisaba adding that the party wasn’t destroyed as it was not yet opened.

In the morning of 2 September, a meeting was organized towards leaders of political parties, local administrative officials and youths affiliated to different political parties.
“Local administrative officials were exhorted to facilitate the opening activities of party offices in a given locality,” says Ndayisaba.

He exhorts members of political parties to put an end to political intolerance. “Confrontations often occur amid members of political parties when the electoral period approaches,” he says. This CNL party office adds to twenty others already destroyed throughout the country.
