According to Nadège Kabagenzi one of the organizers, the main objective of the event is to promote gospel music and Burundian gospel artists.
“The entry of Burundi in the EAC is an opportunity for Burundi to be open to the world and be more visible on the international stage. One of the best ways to achieve this, is to promote the local talents of gospel artists and introduce Burundi to the world”, she says. She goes on saying that gospel music became very popular in Bujumbura in the last ten years and it has contributed to peace and reconciliation. Moreover, it increased Burundi’s visibility worldwide, through international concerts of Burundian artists.
The festival will be hosted by Burundian gospel artists as well as artists from the region like Holy Keane Amooti from Uganda and Kambua Manundu from Kenya. Besides music, the festival also offers workshops for youth on 4 October 2014 on music, business and entreneurship as well as health and well-being in Kanyosha Commune.
Natacha Nduwimana, in charge of Marketing and Communication, adds that two concerts will take place on October 4th 2014. The 1st concert will be a free public concert at 3pm at EAC Church in Kanyosha Commune. The second concert on that same day will be a VIP concert at Safari Gate Hotel at 5pm. The last concert will take place on October 5th 2014 at Christian Life Ministries (CLM) where awards will be provided. The first price is the “Life time achievement award”. The second award will be provided to the best gospel producer and the last one will be given to the best young upcoming artist.
