A dead body was discovered in the morning of October 2nd in Ngagara area, in Ntahangwa commune in the north of Bujumbura city. The victim is called Déo Irakoze, a thirty-year young man from Ijenda area, Mugongomanga commune of Bujumbura province.
His body was lying in the gutter of Bugendana Avenue, in front of the fence of his home. His roommate indicates that the victim left home in the morning in good health.
“He went to work in the morning as usual. I waited for him to return in vain. A neighbor has just told me that his corpse is lying in the street, “says his roommate who indicates that he does not know the circumstances or the reasons behind his death.
The victim who was a bus conductor also worked as an assistant referee of the 2nd Division of Burundi Football Federation.
A similar crime was committed last week. Alexis Ndihokubwayo, a senior officer at SOS Burundi was seriously injured in an armed attack carried out in the night of 27 September at his home located in Kinyankonge neighborhood, Buterere area, in the north of Bujumbura.
Sources say people armed with rifles broke in the house around 1 a.m, and shot at Ndihokubwayo. “One among the criminals was dressed in police uniform,” says a source. The criminals were not identified.
