Coronavirus: China reassures Burundian students

At a press conference held this February 17, Li Changlin, Chinese Ambassador to Burundi has recommended Burundian students in China who are on holidays in their country to limit their outings and avoid participating in rallies.

Ambassador Li Changlin: “Burundian students in China who are on holidays in their country must remember to take a temperature test twice a day for 14 days”

“They must remember to do a temperature test twice a day for 14 days,” he has said adding that those who are in China are in the good hands of the University officials.

They are advised to stay on their campuses and follow the instructions given to them. “It’s the best way to protect themselves and others,” said the Chinese Ambassador to Burundi.
Mr Li has also said students in China have been incorporated into the prevention and control mechanisms and systems of Coronavirus. “These students are entitled to the various services offered in special circumstances,” reassured Ambassador Li Changlin adding that about 10,000 patients have recovered and were discharged from the hospital.

“This is proof that this disease is preventable, controllable and curable,” he said adding that the Chinese Ambassador and the Burundian government have already installed devices to screen passengers at Bujumbura International Airport.

Since January 2020, the novel coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 29 countries and territories around the world. On February 17, about71,447 cases were confirmed including a death toll of 1,776 and 11,421 patients who recovered. On 15 February, the first case in Africa was reported in Egypt.
