After the Burundian national football team were qualified for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, RévérienNdikuriyo, chairman of the Burundian Football Federation (FFB)
calls for financial support to the national team.
“We call on all Burundians to support their team. We have already opened a bank account on which people may pay their contributions through telephones, “said the FFB chair in a press conference held on 8 April.
He said that FFB has already got US $ 200,000, but he believes that the sum is not enough taking into account travel expenses and other expenses.
“The national team are seeking BIF 600 million to participate in AFCON competition” said Ndikuriyo. He asks the Burundian government to increase its support to the national team, adding that it is the first time that Burundi has this opportunity.
Burundi was qualified for the AFCON finals for the first time after a draw score (1-1) in a match with Gabon on 23 March, 2019.
