Burundi: New political party appears on political scene

The new political party-Front for Ideological and Democratic Change (FCID) Imvugakuri applied for approval this Monday, November 4 at the Ministry of the Interior.

Dénis Nduwayo, Legal representative of FCID-Imvugakuri

Dénis Nduwayo, the legal representative of this party made up of young people and leaders “concerned with development change” says their goal is to find a solution to the economic, political and social problems that Burundi is facing.

“Given the alarming economic situation prevailing in Burundi where the majority of the population lives in extreme poverty, reported cases of human rights violations, corruption and unemployment, we decided to found this party to meet these challenges. Otherwise, if nothing is done, our beloved country will inevitably plunge into a chaos,” says Nduwayo.

He promises to reveal the strategy that this party will use to achieve its goal in the coming days.

Dénis Nduwayo is currently the chairman of the Communal Council of Mutimbuzi Commune in Bujumbura Province. He was elected in the 2015 elections as a member of the Amizero y ‘Abarundi coalition which was led by Agathon Rwasa, the current president of the opposition party CNL.

“Some former members of Amizero y’Abarundi joined CNL party, but we did not want to join it because we do not support its ideology,” says Nduwayo.
