After a three hour-court hearing, Judith Basutama, the BBC correspondent stepped out the court. She looks calm and talks quietly with her lawyer. She has appeared in Mukaza High Court this Wednesday 21 March.
BBC correspondent questioned about her March 12 news report
“The file number is LNP 2025\BA1, an investigative legal file. She was summoned for the news report aired on 12nd March, 2018 at 2 p.m on BBC radio for which she is a correspondent,” says Eric Ntibandetse, her lawyer.
Ntibandetse says all went well and adds that they are waiting for the next summons as agreed in the court session. “The case is following the normal course. We are waiting for future summons. She is not worried as you can see”.
Ntibandetse says this is the first time his client has appeared in court over such a case.
Judith Basutama was ordered to appear before the court for an “investigation case” under the order of Prosecutor Alexis Bandyatuyaga, on Wednesday 19th March 2018.
