A person shot dead in the Center of Burundi Capital

It is desolation for Bwiza residents

According to testimonies, the victim is called Bède Havyarimana, he was shot dead by armed individuals in the night of 18 July around 21h. The incident occurred at Bwiza, the center of Bujumbura nearby the bar commonly called “Nyabisumo, 5th Avenue”.

That armed group broke into the property and opened fire. The victim was visiting a friend. According to sources on the ground, the three criminals said they were looking for Bède Havyarimana. They shot the latter when he attempted to defend himself.

He was shot several times on the chest. The police intervened but it was too late because the murderers had already run away leaving the victim lying in a pool of blood. He was urgently evacuated at the “Arche de Kigobe “Hospital, where the medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières set up a medical team.

In the same night, armed individuals also attacked some households in Buyenzi area, in the center of Bujumbura. According to witnesses, they injured two persons and stole money, mobile phones and other items.
