After the return of 1604 followers of Eusébie Ngendakumana, said to be “prophetess” returned from Rwanda at Easter crossing Gasenyi-Nemba border in Kirundo province, two other groups were repatriated this Monday, April 2.
The first group of 517 people crossed Kanyaru border post in Kayanza province. They spent the night at Gatwaro Stadium in Kayanza before being taken to their homes.
The other group of 383composed of Eusébie followers arrived at the Ruhwa border post in Cibitoke province. They came from Nyarushishi camp in Rusizi district, in western province Rwanda. They have been grouped at Cibitoke High School and will be sent back to their respective homes.
Their repatriation happened after Rwanda’s decision to let those Eusébie followers return home. The government of Rwanda says a number of them reflected unusual attitudes like refusing to provide biometrics data for identification or comply with public health requirements such as vaccination of children under 5 years due to their religious beliefs. “The government of Rwanda and UNHCR conducted a series of consultation with the asylum seekers but the group remained non cooperative in such exercise but rather preferred to be repatriated towards their motherland,” reads a ministry of foreign affairs note.
These asylum seekers were received in Rwanda on March 7, 2018 from Kamanyola in DRC and were grouped into three different camps namely Nyarushishi, Bugesera and Nyanza in Rwanda.
